Why Football?

Why Football?

For the untrained eye, football is a mess. It’s a pig skin being thrown around and a huge bunch of grown men in what resembles full body armor and a helmet running around trying to catch it and possibly do some mysterious thing with it. And then you hear that in Europe they do the same thing without all the protection and you’re just plain confused.

But football goes so much deeper than that we, fans of the sport, can’t even begin to explain it. The athleticism and ability involved in such an aggressive, not to say violent and fast-paced game is just insurmountable. Add to that the enormous tactical knowledge that everyone around it must have and the hours upon hours of training, physical, mental and tactical training, that those players must endure, and you’re left with the face of one of the most exciting and complete sports of all time.

There’s no wonder that it moves so many passions and breaks so many hearts. There are an unusual number of emotions involved in a sport that’s apparently so manly in nature. It’s a sport so competitive that there’s a lot of competition even around it. The sheer number of people who bet on football online is probably bigger than a small nation’s population. And the numbers involved are probably as great as a network’s revenue from SuperBowl ads. So the answer to the question in the topic is: because it rocks.
