For the untrained eye, football is a mess. It’s a pig skin being thrown around and a huge bunch of grown men in what resembles full body armor and a helmet running around trying to catch it and possibly do some mysterious thing with it. And then you hear that in Europe they do the same thing without all the protection and you’re just plain confused.

But football goes so much deeper than that we, fans of the sport, can’t even begin to explain it. The athleticism and ability involved in such an aggressive, not to say violent and fast-paced game is just insurmountable. Add to that the enormous tactical knowledge that everyone around it must have and the hours upon hours of training, physical, mental and tactical training, that those players must endure, and you’re left with the face of one of the most exciting and complete sports of all time.

There’s no wonder that it moves so many passions and breaks so many hearts. There are an unusual number of emotions involved in a sport that’s apparently so manly in nature. It’s a sport so competitive that there’s a lot of competition even around it. The sheer number of people who bet on football online is probably bigger than a small nation’s population. And the numbers involved are probably as great as a network’s revenue from SuperBowl ads. So the answer to the question in the topic is: because it rocks.

Almost everyone has heard of the casino game Roulette, and most claim to know what its all about, but is it the right game for you? Whether you know all about it, or just considering playing it for the first time, you’ll need some solid pointers to help your performance. Here are some great tips to get you started with the famous, and historic game of Roulette.

Although casino games don’t vary too much, you should be aware that there are a few different kinds of Roulette. The main difference will be the wheel, and how many numbers appear on it. Some wheels only have one zero, and some have a double zero layout. This is important because it significantly changes your odds. The most popular styles of Roulette are European Roulette, and American Roulette.

Roulette is a game that everyone can play, but few excel at. If you are a luck orientated person, you will enjoy this game. If you prefer games that are challenging, and require strategy, Roulette games may not be for you. Roulette is mostly luck, with the player’s control being limited to betting habits. The outcome cannot be influenced by the player, only the amount of money lost or won. All you can do is choose a number and color, how much you want to bet, and when to call it quits. You don’t have much influence over Roulette, but that is what many people find attractive about it.

If you are new to horse racing you should understand some of the term used at the track before you attempt to do any betting. Win, is a term used in betting where you feel that the horse you choose will win. Place, refers to the horse that you chose will finish the race in first or second place.
Show will be a bet when your choice of horse must come in either first, second or third place. This bet will pay less than the previous two, but you have better odds in that you will have 3 chances make some money. Exacta is a bet where you must pick the horse that wins and the one that comes in second, so you are picking the first an second place winners. Exacta Box is where you have chosen 2 horses as the best but not sure which will come in first or second, the safest bet is the box.
You can box various horses and know that the wager will go up. Trifecta is a bet where you must pick the horses, in order, of finishing the race in first, second and third. A Straight Trifecta involves the first three horses in a single combination. No matter what horse you pick or how much you win, a day at the races is a good day and can be shared with friends.

On June 5, 2010 the 142nd running of the Belmont Stakes will take place. The very first Belmont race that was run in the US was not the famous stakes we know today and it arrived from Franklin Ohio back in 1853. It was August Belmont, who the race was named after, a financier known in New York’s society.
He was known back then for horse racing and his name is connected with the history of the Kentucky Derby. The Belmont is the oldest of the event called the Triple Crown as the Belmont was introduced six years before the Preakness and the Kentucky Derby by eight years.
The very first race was run on a Thursday, of all days, at Jerome Park in 1867. The entry fee was $200 back then and in the North America, it is the fourth oldest race overall. In 1890, the race moved from Jerome Park to Morris Park and stayed there until 1905 when the Belmont Park was opened. The post parade that is known today had its first showing in 1880, before that date the horse were taken from their stall to the post.

World wide, there are thousands of horse racing event every year. The stands are filled with not just the casual spectators but the curiosity seekers also. You will also find the betters and the serious gamblers and they are all there to enjoy this great sport of horse racing.
Many famous race horses have come and gone. Black Gold who was Kentucky Derby winner in the 1920s, was a famous race horse who overcame injury and pain to continue to race and win many victories and placements. Another well known horse was Colin who dominated the US race track for two years. This horse was born during the depression, difficult years for everyone, and lived till the age of twenty seven. During his career, he was undefeated and lived out his remaining years in England.
All race horses strive to please people but then see little material benefits from they money the generate for their owners. They can be destroyed for little reason and the breeding and care involved in their upbringing can be an enriching experience. These horses are loyal and have determination that is unmatched. The Triple Crown is the most popular horse race that just about everyone has heard of.

It was Gordon Brown and company back in 2001 who changed the British tax law to allow punters bet tax free. Before that, bets were charged a nine percent tax on any bet placed in the UK and that tax was replaced with a tax on the bookmakers’ profit of fifteen percent.
This tax was difficult to collect and blocked may foreigners from betting with the UK bookmakers. This then stopped the expansion of the market for the bookmakers so they agreed to more tax so they could be accessible to a wider market. Serious investments then became part of this expansion for the industry and around this time was when online betting exchanges showed up. The law change allowed this and certainly quickened the process.
The gaming industry was alarmed and felt the Gaming commission was not protecting the public but they added addiction treatment referrals to the online text as this was a compliance the web sites needed to do. This new law also allowed for more money to circulate and thus help the economy as it also created jobs for sports book managers, bookies and offline customer service.

There are only two type of betting books in the world, one being the sportsbook and the other is all the books written by generations of punters offering their knowledge and experiences.
The sportsbook is where the oddsmaker has done the math for you giving you a better chance to make a profit. The odds that they offer are published although you cannot look inside a sportsbook. They guard their formulas and margins well so you can only help yourself by reading some of the leading betting books available out there.
If you got to your local book store looking for these books, you will find the selection hard to chose from. To save you the money of buying too many books, go online and find out from betting forums which books are recommended by others. The book written by a well known writer will offer little of what you actually need compared to someone who has been-there-done-that and wants to tell you about it. Other books to look for would be odds guides and not memoirs and even team specific books like a coach’s biography could offer insights that might sway your choice.
